How it works
Enter the total bill amount before tax, choose a tip percentage, and enter how many people are sharing the bill. The calculator multiplies the bill by the tip percentage to get the tip amount, adds it to get the total, then divides by the number of people for the per-person share. Tip = Bill × (Tip% / 100). Per person = (Bill + Tip) / Number of people.
Example
Your dinner for four people comes to $85.50. You decide on an 18% tip: $85.50 × 0.18 = $15.39 tip. Total bill: $100.89. Each person pays $25.22, including $3.85 in tip.

How much should I tip at a restaurant?
In the United States, standard tipping at a restaurant is 15–20% for satisfactory service, 20–25% for excellent service. For buffets or counter service, 10% is common. Tipping customs vary by country — in Japan and Australia it is not customary; in Brazil a 10% service charge is often included.
Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
Most etiquette guides suggest tipping on the pre-tax amount. However, tipping on the post-tax total is widely accepted and makes the calculation easier. The difference is usually small.
What is a fair tip for delivery drivers?
For food delivery, 15–20% of the order total is standard, with a minimum of $3–$5 for small orders. For grocery delivery or large orders, 15% or more is appreciated. Bad weather or difficult delivery conditions are a good reason to tip more.
How do I split a bill unevenly?
